I'm a Needle Felting Maniac!

With the warm weather a comin' I am definitely transitioning from one woolie craft to another. Even though wool diaper covers are still awesome in the summer, I want to switch things up and start honing my other wool loves--needle felting and spinning.

Last night, I acccidentally stabbed myself only 10 times and drew blood about 4 times--this is definitely a sign that I'm getting better at needle felting! Don't worry--I always bandage before I touch my creations so that they don't get all bloody. Wanna see what I made?

Meet Mervin the Itty Bitty Guinea Piggie.

This lil' guy measures about 1 inch in length and 1/2 inch in height. He comes with a yummy bed of green grass that measures 2 inches wide and 3 inches long. Mervin is needle felted from Mauch Chunky Wool Roving and his bed of grass is hand felted as well.

Isn't he guinea-licious?

I know you remember...

Flickr Pro Baybeeee!

Okay, I did it.... I made the leap and bought a flickr pro account. I know, I know, it doesn't seem like a big deal but I'm a super-d-duper cheapskate and I don't like to pay to get anything that I can for free. I love flickr.com and I'm super addicted to posting my photos and monkeying around with the groups but I wanted to be able to add more than 200 photos and have more options for organizing them. Now I get to post all the photos I want! muhahahahahahaa!

Another cool thing about the pro account is that now I have stats about where my view are coming from! Very cool! I just love all that informationy stuff...

check check check it out!

Public Service Announcement: Drinking Booze while Sewing can be Hazardous!

Okay, I admit it, I had one too many beers last night... Then I got the urge to sew, the machine was calling my name and there was a cute lil' pair of diaper covers just screaming to be finished. I was sewing along (my stitches weren't quite as straight as they usually are) and CHACHUNK! a needle goes all the way through my finger tip then breaks off. However, one good thing about one too many beers is that it didn't hurt as bad as I thought it would... at least until this morning.

See where the needle went right through my finger???? ewwww....

Then, to top it all off, this morning I accidentally stepped on a felting needle. Those little SOBs have barbs on it so as I pulled it stung sooooo bad!

geeze la-weeze....I shouldn't be allowed to craft!

Etsy Obsession

sigh...

I haven't been this obsessed since my crush on Davy Jones from The Monkees. Etsy is my new love and we have had a delicious relationship since December 12, 2007. We have had our ups and downs but these days nothing gets my heart racing faster than making a sale. It doesn't matter if it's a small fry supply or a big diaper cover order, any sale makes my little heart go pitter patter.

My newest obsession is trying to have an in store inventory of 100 items... I am oh so close to my goal with a mean 98 but I can't wait to see those three digits.

Does anyone know of an Etsy-aholics support group???

Fluff-A-Rump Baby Bicycle Butt Diaper Cover

Whoo Hooo! I finished it! I'd have to say that this wool soaker is one of the best I've ever made. It's made of a silky soft Merino wool that will be perfect for the upcoming summer. The needle felted design was inspired by my bike lovin' husband who rides all through the winter and never has enough to say about vintage bikes and their restoration. I think some of that bikyness has leaked into my little brain...

A few stitches and a few stabs later, here it is!

I only got one good picture on a baby because my little model is a wiggling beast! I gotta find a better way to display my diaper covers. I've seen people use dolls and bears to model them, but that creeps me out. I should thank my older brother for making me have doll-aphobia--but that's a story for another day....

Time?!?!?!

So, like I said in my last post--I'm serious this time! I am committed to blogging and sharing my crazy craftiness with the world. But, when? How do all you talented bloggers do it? Someone is always screaming at me, the dirty dishes in the sink, the baby, the husband wanting some dinner... it seems like it never ends and when I do find a smidgen of free time I run to the sewing machine! How do you find the time to bloggity blog blog? I think I'm going to try to get up just a few minutes earlier than the rest of the house and blog over a nice steaming cup of coffee...

I'm almost done with my super cool bicycle butt baby diaper covers! My other newest creation has been "Schmidty Shorts" which are Fluff-A-Rump wool diaper covers that keep the breezes on baby's kneezes!

I'm Serious This Time!

I know it has been forever since my last entry, I'm serious this time when I say that I'm going to do a better job at recording my super-d-duper wacky adventures! It's just that every time I sit down to blog either a baby starts crying, a dog starts puking, or there is something else calling me away from the computer. Let's not even talk about the 50 million diaper covers I've made in the last month! I'm having so much fun with my new found needle felting skills that I have to keep making diapers covers to use as a felting canvas for my needlefelting fun. Here are a couple of my creations:
I only gouged my finger once, not too much blood was gushing... but needle felting sure takes a lot of stabbing! I went a little overboard with my wool roving collecting, though. I now have to find some kind of container that is big enough to fit 3,873 ounces of wool roving in too many colors to count!

I'm addicted... All I can think about is hopefully getting the chance to work on a bicycle themed pair of wool soakers tonight! We'll see if we can get the dog to stop puking long enough for me to finish it...
